We have a Living Hope

Did you notice?

Verse 2 of “There is a Hope” we sang on Sunday as a response song to the sermon on Hebrews 6:18-20 is full of references to the ‘Paraklete‘ (‘Encourager’), the Holy Spirit who lives inside you:

“There is a hope that lifts my weary head
A consolation strong against despair
That when the world has plunged me
In its deepest pit
I find the Savior there
Through present suff’rings future’s fear
He whispers courage in my ear
For I am safe in everlasting arms
And they will lead me home”

I pray when you sing this song, you will be reminded of the Hope Personified that lives in you:

– He lifts your weary head
– He provides strong consolation/encouragment (‘parakalesis‘) (Hebrews 6:18)
– He whispers courage & guidance (‘para‘ comes alongside + ‘kaleo‘ calls out)

For we who believe, there is a living hope… because we have a Living Hope!
